Two of Sigma’s Liaisons to the United Nations will provide highlights of Sigma’s United Nations team’s advocacy efforts for the past year as well as reflect on their journey as liaisons to the United Nations as they conclude their term.

SPEAKER BIOS:
Patrick Chiu, PhD, RN, CGNC
Patrick Chiu is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta and a Certified Global Nurse Consultant. His policy and research work focuses on professional regulation, the health workforce and policy advocacy. Patrick has served a Sigma UN representative for the last three years.
Mercy Ngosa Mumba, PhD, RN, FAAN
Dr. Mercy Mumba is an award-winning scientist, internationally acclaimed keynote speaker, and the Associate Dean of Global Initiatives and Community Partnerships at the University of Alabama, Capstone College of Nursing. She is the Sigma Liaison to the United Nations and the Founding Director of the Center for Substance Use Research and Related Conditions. She is the author of the award-winning book "A nurse's step-by-step guide to transitioning to an academic role: Strategies to jumpstart your career in education and research". She is passionate about improving the human condition and is a strong advocate for increasing research productivity, infrastructure, and human capital globally. As President and CEO of Infinity Research LLC., her work centers on creating value, innovating sustainably, optimizing outcomes, and accelerating success for individuals, organizations, and governments.
